Expanded Shale Amends Soil in Trial Gardens at Dallas Arboretum

Location: Dallas, TX Expanded shale was first used to transform heavy black clay soils at the Dallas Arboretum’s test gardens back in 2003. Former senior director of gardens Jimmy Turner found three inches of expanded shale and three inches of compost an ideal way to amend soil used in an area that evaluates new plant selections.
