TruGro®
TruGro® Expanded Shale is a lightweight aggregate produced from raw shale. Fired in a rotary kiln at over 2000° Fahrenheit and rapidly cooled, the shale transforms into an aggregate that is porous, lightweight, chemically inert, and highly durable. At approximately half the weight of sand or pea gravel, it is specified in many soil media applications. Roughly the size of pea gravel, its porous composition has the ability to retain water and nutrients for use at the root zone.
